Counter-Terrorism?

Disclaimer: This is all in relation to counter-terrorism efforts. In no way am I giving sweeping discussion on any of three as far as it relates to other topics. The biggest thought is that we have to be direct and can't just use generalizations that don't fit all problems.

Guns:
I've said it 8 billion times and it's not rocket science but the President says it better in the link at the bottom.
1. No one wants your guns
2. If you want the bad guys to lose guns and good guys to keep guns then you have decide who the bad guys are and who the good guys are.
3. We must agree that all are bad by actions and not by beliefs, therefore if we are going to label radical Islam as bad guys then radical Christians must be labeled the same. We decide that if you join a terrorist group that preaches hate such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, KKK, AFA, Westboro Baptist and all then begin researching terrorism or planning an attack then you give up your right to purchase and own a gun.
3. We can already decide who is who by our systems we just have to give either the FBI or CIA or whoever the opportunity to use it. (Note this was the problem in the Orlando case, all data but no authority to act nor a system to block him from purchasing). Which is BS because currently if you buy or sell too much damn weed you can lose your gun rights forever.
4. So you need to know when they decide to buy a gun. Currently, if you want to drive a car - you take a test and get a DL. If you want to drive a bigger vehicle, you take a harder test and have more checks to get a CDL, if you want to drive a motorcycle that does different things you take a separate test and get that license.
5. There are enough guns for every man woman and child, no way to really retroactively make people get a gun permit after the fact, therefore this becomes a new law going forward. If you plan to purchase new guns going forward or to banister your gun in public then you have to be licensed. If you have a license for handgun, buy all you want, you have a license for AR-15 buy all you want, and etc.....
6. Criminals will still break laws, again - this is too target most terrorism attacks and give opportunities and liberties to local law enforcement to curb large city crime as well. You bring your gun to town, just be licensed. You want to have your gun at home or in your woods or on the farm (private property), then no licensed needed. You are a competition shooter or enthusiast, then will have a special licensee for you too. You just want to walk up and down the city streets with a gun, then you'll need a license.

Religion:
1. People inherently believe they are good and they are right.
2. Nothing will change for anger, hate and love as long as people that have anger and hate believe that the afterlife is better than the current life. People have used the Bible, Quran and Book of Mormon to continue to believe they are right and they are doing the right thing to get them into whatever pearly gates dream is there for them after death. Some use a gun, some use policy and some use speech - all in the name of their religion and its glorious place on the hill.
3. I am fine with calling this recent shooter a radical Islamist if you are fine with calling Governor Bryant a radical Christian. They both use religion for hate and anger towards someone other than themselves. Side note: no one ever says radical atheist - my peeps in the all clear.
4. I prefer we get rid of all of them but most of you do great things and are great people. If your faith drives you to do that, then great, what I do care what drives you. Just hope you leave it all out on the field here.
5. I hate it we don't treat people here like this is all we got together.
6. This all leads to the next.

Foreign Policy:
1. People inherently believe they are good and they are right.
2. People in other countries only know what they see on their tv and what they feel in their neighborhoods just as we do here.
3. You can't bomb people into your beliefs. That's actually counterproductive. See today's results based on all actions since I was born (1981).
4. Did you want Obama to declare War on Orlando? or did we declare war on Timothy McVey during OKC? or you just want someone dead because he wanted someone dead? See where I am going with this.
5. Be careful to whom you wish to kill unless you are willing to pull the trigger.
6. Please don't pull the trigger.

This is long but all I ask is that you comment with actual realistic solutions. Please don't Trump this shit up by just bitching about the problem or complaining about my actual solutions - have answers of your own. The other option is just to carry on with the plan in place - ultimately one bad person and 50 good people dead are small compared to the 319 million people we have nationwide. I'd rather they still be here though.

It's here

Dear Football Gods,

Thank you for all the many blessing that today and henceforth for the next fourth months will bring. I am sure you brought college football in this world to entertain us until Christmas. You brought such a great blessing to also help us through the holidays with our families. I imagine you might not have time to read this but are watching me type this through your big screen TV of the world. How is it like playing PlayStation on that thing? Is it like the old picture in picture or more like the DirectTV thing where you can get 6 channels at once. Either way, I bet you have one hell of a Superbowl crowd. Let's don't get excited though, it's only the beginning, we don't want to rush it.

As I tossed and turned in the bed last night with excitement, just like i did as a kid waiting to see what was under the tree on Christmas morning, I knew today it would all be worth it. You tried to test me just like you did people back in the old days. You sent an extra work load over the last few months, didn't make it easy. You made it a 100 degree days with high humidity to force me inside to watch the Little League World Series. I had to watch ESPN Top plays that included Tennis, seriously, that was a little far but we can discuss later. You took our star QB back away from the team only two days ago. You love using the NCAA as your little devil puppet. Your brought a construction crew onto the next block over. Had them work seven days week, starting their mornings at 6 am. You got the dog sick this week and had him shit and puck all over the thick carpet. You even went as far as having the wife snore and kick all night last night....I am guessing a last ditch effort of heartache.

But through it all I know, Football Gods are faithful. He does enable His children to persevere through suffering. He not only brings them through, but He brings them to glory. And glory, my friend, is what today is all about. Nothing and I mean Nothing will wipe this smile off of my face.

Thank you,
David

Healthcare

My healthcare voice, i hear you were waiting. The bill itself has good points and bad points. Things that could and most likely will be abused by both the rich and the poor alike. It doesn't solve all the problems with the US's medical situation but it does make some needed adjustments. The thing that continues to bother me the most with this and other Obama issues is the complete lack of respect and ignorance of others. I am amazed at people as the bitch and cry about this bill. I see many reasons for this: a) you are touching their profits; b)they are to lazy too understand the bill for their self and that it could help them, so they listen to someone else that says it's no good, all the while not paying much in taxes and could benefit cause they don't have good insurance anyway; c) they continue to be closed minded to the fact that "lazy trash with lots of kids from different daddies and want to sit around and do nothing are the ones who will get benefit from this bill." So for me, the bill isn't the best, it presents challenges and successes but more importantly it scares me of the American people and our continued nature to care only for our self and our ever love of money.

Things we do need: Tort Reform, Fraud Prevention, Insurance company regulations, more family practice doctors, better payment system---not more money for more care, promotion of healthier living, and more community service.

But in all, it's not chicken little: the sky is falling.

Where ya been?

Well, thanks for asking. If you'll notice, my last post was roughly late June. I got a promotion at the first of July. Bye, Bye writing time. So life changes and now we must adjust.

So what does this new position call for me to do? The title is Special Projects Coordinator. This simply means that I am able to develop, implement, and manage new programs under our CSBG division. CSBG is community service block grant. I won't go into detail but what a fun place to be. The great thing about my job is that I am able to have so much freedom in the creation department. Also, it allows me to do the thing I love, which is to create and to make the policy for that creation.

At first it was somewhat structured to develop 5 new programs that were all funded under the stimulus bill. Now, its been keep those going, managing roughly 12 staff and 9 trainees. What a whirlwind of activities that continue to come with this position. I have the full support of my bosses, compensated well and still have plenty of personal time.

That being said, I need to write more. I have also been starting in a new career. I have been the color commentator for Pikeville College basketball. You can see and hear them here, www.pc.edu Also, I still occasionally sling drinks for some private parties, so those things keep me a little busy.

Next week is Fat Tuesday & Ash Wednesday. Time to get serious on giving something up and getting focused. Hopefully, I'll write how that goes here!

They got the Poppy Seed Chicken right there between the Meatloaf and Roastbeef!

I laugh even as I begin to write. It is funny how we organize things in our life. What people either see as more important or how they should organize the structure of life. On a smaller scale, Natasha was recently reading through the Taylor Methodist Cook Book. It had the dishes organized alphabetically. This might not seem like a big deal at all but little do you know. The conversation:

"David, I can understand putting the Index in Alphabetical form, that is what it is for"
ME: "Okay"
"But the whole cookbook?"
ME Again: "Yeah....."
"I mean look here, They have the Poppy Seed Chicken right here between the regular ol Meatloaf and some sort of Roastbeef!"

Currently, we had a chicken thawing in the kitchen, This angered her because she just wanted to look through the book for chicken recipes. Now she has to flip through the whole book simply because they didn't have the book divided by type of dish. AHHHH, now I see your problem. It was great. The anger as she continued to flip was priceless indeed. She would eventually set it down and go through one of the 9 cookbooks she has.

One persons organization of the little things in life can be totally different that some one else's. It's just like going into an office and some one saying, "It look a mess but I know where everything is." Yes, true, you do but no one else does.If we all would consider the "customers" in our lives, then maybe organizational skills as whole would raise. If maybe we release the control and/or selfishness of un-organization, then we can better serve the people around us. I will dip deep into serving others as we go along.

Natasha has struggled with organized religion lately, I guess the Methodist are out again. That line is full of humor.
